Incredible: The Smell Of Money Wakes A Man From A Year Long Coma

A cash driven man who spent more than a year in a coma finally woke up when nurses wafted banknotes under his nose in an attempt to stir fond memories.

The 30 year old man, Xiao Li, fell into a coma in August 2013 after spending almost a week without sleep at an internet café, where he was researching business ideas. Nurses at a hospital in Shenzen, China, decided to waft banknotes under his nose in an attempt to rouse him after his family reported his love of money. And to their amazement, he snapped out of his slumber almost immediately.

Chief medic Dr Liu Tang said, “We had asked his family what really drove him, and they were very clear that it was money.When we learned about his fondness for money we experimented with notes and change. We found a crisp, new 100 Yuan note crumpled under his nose worked best.

Dr Tang said they saw Xiao twitch his fingers as he tried to reach up and snatch the 100 Yuan bill – worth £10 – while his eyelids flickered. He added, “It was extraordinary – I have never seen anything like it in 20 years as a doctor. Memories of smell and sound can be very powerful stimulants. Now Xiao’s family are keeping up the therapy at his hospital bed in Shenzhen while he continues his slow recovery.

Dr Liu said, “He still has some way to go before he is discharged from hospital but he is making good progress.”

1. Malaria

3. Cardiovascular diseases

Cardiovascular diseases are the chief causes of sudden deaths in Nigeria; they include heart attack, heart failure, hypertension etc. According to theageonline.com, over 100 million Nigerians are plagued by hypertension without knowing. Cardiovascular diseases are caused majorly as a result of poor diet, stress and overwork.

4.Cancer

6. Pneumonia

Pneumonia is said to be the second highest killer of children in Nigeria according to healthnewsng.com. Contrary to what many believe about Pneumonia, it’s not contacted by drinking cold drink or from being exposed to cold weather; although those may aggravate the condition, they are not the primary causes. Pneumonia is a communicable disease which is caused by bacterial, fungal or viral infection as a result of inhaling germs from a dirty environment. The disease spreads through coughs and sneezes.

7. Diabetes

Nigeria has the highest record of diabetes in Africa according to World Health Organization and the International Federation of Diabetes and Diabetes Association of Nigeria (thenationonlineng.net). Punchng.com also reported that Type-2 diabetes kills Nigerians more than HIV/AIDS. The Health Reform foundation of Nigeria (HERFON) has also declared diabetes as the top cause of deaths arising from Non-communicable disease in 2015 (vanguardngr.com). Eating unhealthy food for human consumption is said to increase the tendency of being diabetic.

8. Stroke

Punchng.com reported that experts link the increase in stroke cases inNigerians to ignorance as people who have high blood pressure, high cholesterol content and end-stage diabetes are predisposed to stroke. According to vanguardngr.com, “statistics shows that 20 per cent of people who died of stroke are confirmed patients of hypertension”.

9. Tuberculosis

According to thisdaylive.com, Nigeria ranks as the 11th country in the world with the highest prevalence of TB. This disease can be contracted when a person inhales droplets from a cough or sneeze by an infected person. It has killed several people but can be curtailed and cured when detected early.

10. Meningitis

Meningitis is not only a killer disease in Nigeria but in some other parts of Africa as well. It is usually prevalent during the dry season and particularly in Northern Nigeria. It is said to have high mortality rate. The disease kills up to 10% of its patients and up to 20% of its survivors suffer permanent brain damage and other physical impairments.

Nigerians Need to Defend its Country – Uche Jombo

The fight against corruption is no more a fight for government as it is now a fight for all. Some Nigerian entertainers have risen up for some time now to kick against the unjust massacre of about 2000 lives in Baga, Borno state.
Nollywood actress, Uche Jombo, is not happy with the current situation of the country as she has urged fellow Nigerians to stand up and defend the country.
She called on politicians to keep politics aside and put into consideration the many lives that is at stake rather than being forced to move by international community.
According to message, “Sad at the senseless attack on the people of Baga. Nigerians must stand together to condemn these acts.”
“What about security? When did we become the nation where lives don’t matter? Nigeria deserves better. Pray For Nigeria, pray For Peace,” she urged.
She advised that, “We Are Nigerians let’s NOT become the nation international community has to push before we take care of our domestic matters.”

Hollywood Actress Says Boko Haram Is Thriving Under Lawlessness, Condemns Attack On Children & Women

Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie has spoken for the first time this year over the increased Boko Haram attacks in Northern Nigeria.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Jolie condemned the mass murder and rape of women and children. She also claimed that the terrorists are thriving under lawlessness.
The statement reads:
“Each new crime committed by Boko Haram exceeds the last in brutality. This is a direct consequence of the environment of total impunity in which Boko Haram operates. Every time they get away with mass murder, rape and the enslavement of women and children, they are emboldened.” 

Jolie begged the international community to help Nigeria in bringing the terrorists to justice.

Angelia’s statement came days after over 2000 civilians died in the most deadly attack launched by Boko Haram terrorists in Baga area of Borno State.

Let’s talk about nudity and over sexualisation of music videos. Would you say that this is a selling point for your brand?
Definitely not! There are a lot of sexy women in the industry and I’m still selling. So if it was just sexiness that sells my music, people would have forgotten about me by now. But first and foremost, the music is important, everything else is a part of a package and I think that people generally know that music is in me and is my first love. I studied music, so I always concentrate more on it. If the music is right then everything is packaging. They are the things we use in drawing attention to the brand. For me, I think my brand has a heathy balance. All my videos tell different stories about the individual behind the music.

Are you a feminist?

No! I don’t think I am. (Laughs). Ok, may be a passive feminist. With regards to baring one’s body on stage, I don’t think it’s proper to attack the ladies for doing this, while you give nods to their male counterparts for doing the exact same thing. I think people need to learn how to separate the job from who the artist really is. What you do on stage is a job and not necessarily who you are. There’s a time for everything. God created sex and we are supposed to be sexy as well as we are wholesome; smart, intelligent etc. There are times when I know I’m supposed to appear on stage in a classy and simple but cute dress but there are other times where I’m expected to take some fashion risks depending on the kind of crowd I am performing to.
